Lunar Module
Unflown Vehicle
LTA-1

Cradle of Aviation Museum, Mitchell Field, Long Island, NY

This was first in the manufacturing run of Lunar Modules from Grumman's workshop. It was begun before the final engineering was completed and so is the only one the exhibits the round hatch originally intended (the astronauts could not fit through the hatch with their bulky backpacks). This offers a good representation of the inner pressure vessel and tankage, later covered by thin insulating panels. It is displayed in a room representing the Grumman assembly facility and its workers.
