Saturn V

Johnson Space Center, Houston, TX

Loading Saturn V from Image FileFirst Stage:S-IC-14 (Scheduled for Apollo 18/19)
Second Stage: S-II-15 (Backup for Skylab Saturn)
Third Stage: S-IVB-513 (Scheduled for Apollo 18/19; was replaced by Skylab for launch of SA-513)
Instrument Unit: S-IU-515 (Scheduled for Apollo 20)

This Saturn V was assembled from excess hardware after the cancellation of the Apollo Program.  It is the only Saturn V on display with complete flight hardware.  Although repainted in 1996, the vehicle shows signs of deterioration.  For this reason it is being restored in a manner similar to the article at KSC. A temporary sehelter has been built around the booster with windows that run the length of the eastern wall allowing visitors from the Space Center Houston tram tour a chance to view the restoration. The Apollo spacecraft was removed for restoration at a separate facility.

It is capped by an Apollo spacecraft made up of the following units:
SLA-22
CM/SM 115/115A (It is believed the numbers refer to the CM/SM or vice versa)
LES 115.
