The U.S. Space and Rocket Center has one of the largest collections of space artifacts in the world. Originating from an idea conceived by Saturn V designer and Marshall Space Flight Center director Werner von Braun, the center was created to preserve and archive the results of engineering challenges met and exceeded by the workers at Marshall, which adjoins the center. The SRC is also the original home of Space Camp, where thousands, young and old, have lived out dreams of astronaut training.
